SOCAR notifies Turkish government of fulfilling all commitments despite recent events in Turkey

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has officially notified the Turkish government that it will discharge all its liabilities, despite the recent events in Turkey.

According to SOCAR, yesterday Vagif Aliyev, the head of SOCAR Investment Department and chairman of board of SOCAR Turkey Energy, met with Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci.

"The subject of consultations was realization of SOCAR projects in Turkey and fulfillment of schedule of investment projects. At that, SOCAR underlined that recent socio-political events had effect neither on its work in Turkey nor on planning of projects," the SOCAR reported.

Zeybekci stressed the importance of SOCAR projects for Turkey and expressed a hope for the success of its operations on Turkish territory.

Yesterday SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev pointed out that the Company feels itself in Turkey as at home and provided jobs for 40,000 people there.

An attempt of a military coup was made in Turkey at night from 15 to 16 July. Yesterday, a decision to impose three-month martial law has been taken in Turkey.
